Our travel family was pleasantly surprised when we discovered Beehives Campground in Page, Arizona. Nestled amidst the beautiful red rocks of Northern Arizona, this hidden gem is a perfect spot for boondocking with the family.
In this blog post, I'll share my experience of camping at Beehives Campground and what to expect when you're there.
1. Camping at Beehives Campground- What to Expect:
BeeHive Campground is a Bureau of Land Management (BLM) site that offers boondocking with no hookups. It's located just a few miles north of Page, Arizona, and is accessible via a well-maintained gravel and dirt road. The campground is situated on a small hill, offering great views of the surrounding red rock formations. Visitors can park their RVs or set up their tents anywhere within the designated camping area. There are 6 designated spots, $14 per night and no reservations.
2. The Amenities:
While Beehives Campground is a no-frills, boondocking-only site, it does offer a picnic table at each site. There are no showers or potable water sources, so make sure to bring enough water for cooking, cleaning, and drinking.
3. Things to Do:
If you're looking for outdoor activities near Beehives Campground there are plenty of options. The nearby Lake Powell provides opportunities for fishing, kayaking, and swimming. You can also hike the nearby Paria Rimrocks Toadstool Hoodoos trail, which features surreal rock formations and sweeping vistas. A short drive away is the Antelope Canyon, one of the most iconic slot canyons in the world.
If you're looking for an affordable and peaceful camping destination in Northern Arizona, Beehives Campground is a gem that's worth considering. It may not have the bells and whistles of a big RV park, and has a fee for boondocking, but it offers a chance to reconnect with nature and enjoy the stunning red rock formations, nearby attractions, and primitive amenities.
