Continue ShoppingAs a travel enthusiast, I am constantly on the lookout for places that offer an adventure of a lifetime. One of my favorite destinations for a hike is Arizona, where there is an abundance of natural beauty, and the hiking trails offer a thrilling and exciting experience. Our family went on a hike from Praying Hands to Slot Rock outside of Phoenix, Arizona, and it was a journey that left me awestruck. In this blog post, I'm going to share my experience and bring you along on this breathtaking hike.
Praying Hands is a popular landmark ahead of the trailhead in the east side of the Superstition Mountains. On arriving at the Praying Hands, the trail will lead you upwards towards a peak. The sight from the top is magnificent, with a breathtaking 360-degree view of Mesa and the Phoenix metropolitan areas. The hike is moderately challenging but with a few breaks for water our kiddos had no problem completely the hike.
As you continue on the trail, you'll find yourself winding through the rocky terrain until you come upon a slot canyon. The slot canyon hike is a challenge of endurance, and an enjoyable experience for all hikers. It allows visitors to witness the natural beauty of Arizona up close, and the ground beneath your feet contrasts sharply with the majestic red walls that make up the canyon.
The view of the rocks formation in the canyon is awe-inspiring and can seem almost surreal. As you reach the peak of the canyon, you'll find yourself on top of Slot Rock, which offers an incredible panoramic view. The trek down is just as beautiful as the ascent up, as the sun sets behind the mountains and paints the valley in hues of orange, red, and pink.
The trail is roughly five and a half miles, which gives you plenty of time to enjoy the scenic beauty that surrounds you. As you hike towards Slot Rock, the trail can get steep at points, making it a worthwhile adventure for avid hikers. However, it's not recommended for beginners or those with limitations, particularly if you have mobility issues.
If you're an RV traveler or a family traveler, and you're planning a trip to Arizona soon, I strongly advise you to add the Praying Hands to Slot Rock hike to your itinerary. Be sure to bring plenty of water, some snacks, and protective gear, such as hats and sunglasses due to the heat and sun exposure. Arizona is the perfect location for those seeking a sense of adventure, and this hike is a perfect example of what the state has to offer. So, pack your bags, get ready to hike, and enjoy a natural beauty experience like no other
